The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country on the Arabian Peninsula and is located in the southwest corner of Asia. The Kingdom is at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. It is surrounded by the Red Sea in the West, by Yemen and Oman in the South, the Arabian Gulf and the United Arab Emirates and Qatar on the East, and Jordan, Iraq and Kuwait to the North. Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline stretches about 1,760 kilometers (1,100 miles) while its Arabian Gulf coastline roughly 560 kilometers (350 miles).

The largest province in Saudi Arabia not only serves as KSA’s main oil producing hub but is also home to many large industrial and petrochemical companies. Jubail is a unique experiment in development which has proven outstandingly successful. Al-Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO registered location, is one of the oldest regions of the Arabian Peninsula.
A Powerful Engine for the Saudi Economy
The Eastern Province is the most important industrial region of Saudi Arabia contributing 60% of GDP to the national economy. The provincecontains the majority of the Kingdom’s oil and gas reserves and, therefore, is home to several industries such as petrochemicals, chemicals, steel, cement, aluminum, plastics and service providing companies. With the robust growth of industries, the Eastern Province is now called “The Industrial Capital of the Gulf.”
Dammam, on the Arabian Gulf, is the capital city of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Its tree-lined corniche walkway is known for King Abdullah Park’s walkways and the man-made Coral Island.

Al-Khobar is a Saudi Arabian city on the Arabian Gulf. Its Corniche, a large waterfront area, includes Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sea Park, with cafes and playgrounds. Nearby, the city’s island Water Tower offers panoramic views, and the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science & Technology Center (SciTech) has an aquarium, interactive displays and an IMAX theater.

Home to the largest industrial city in the world and the Middle East’s largest (and world’s fourth largest) petrochemical company, SABIC. Jubail comprises the Old Town of Al Jubail and the new industrial area. Jubail Industrial City is the largest civil engineering project in the world today.
Once known for its pearls, Al Jubail is not only economically vital but also a beautiful city that holds both wealth and picturesque views.

Major administrative center for the Saudi oil industry and home to the Mall of Dhahran (one of the biggest shopping complexes in the Eastern Province).
Dhahran has been the home of Saudi Aramco’s headquarters for 80 years and is its first and largest gated compound with more than 50,000 residents.
Things to do: King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Mall of Dhahran, Modon Lake, Dana Bay
Al Ahsa is a UNESCO registered world heritage site and is the largest governorate in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, named after the Al-Ahsa Oasis. Al-Ahsa is also known for being one of the largest date producers in the world, and for its old souks and palaces.
Things to do: Ibrahim Palace, Al-Qara Hill, King Abdullah Environmental Park, Joatha Mosque
Al Qatiff is a historic, coastal oasis region located on the western shore of the Persian Gulf in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Qatif is well known in the oil industry due to the giant Qatif project, which produces 800,000 barrels of oil each day. This region includes the city of Qatif as well many smaller towns and villages. Qatif is well-known for its weekly Thursday Market “Suq Alkhamees” and “Suq Waqif.”
Things to do: Tarout Castle, Dareen Palace, White Sand Beach
